Monastic Education Development Group ( MEDG) Monastic school(Baka) system of Myanmar ( Burma) was one of the oldest school system and has a long history. It began in 11th century during King Anawratha period. Those schools usually provide important education needs throughout Myanmar' history and they were the only main source of education for lives ranging from princess royal to unskill worker. The Buddhist school helped to give children literacy and numeracy skill and as well as knowledge about the Buddha's teaching. Therefore, they also offered ethic and moral foundation to young Myanmar of people. According to minister of education report, in 1931, about 56% of all youth of Burma students and 16.5% of females were literate. Moreover, the Monastic schools educated former Myanmar people to become writers, poets, teachers, and song writers.
